Earlier this week the painting titled ‘Salvator Mundi’ was decided by a majority of experts to not have been painted by Leonardo Da Vinci. The painting depicts Jesus Christ emerging from the darkness blessing the world with one hand while holding a transparents globe in the other. This painting however has never been exhibited to the public, which further piqued people’s interest on the subject at hand. The painting was sold for $450 million, by a buyer on behalf of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, it’s current whereabouts are unknown since it’s purchase to keep the painting’s safety. There is still some back and forth in the fine art community whether it is truly a Leonardo or it was falsely classified. Some have suggested that its most likely by Leonardo’s workshop instead of directly by the artist as this is a common occrence with older paintings. It will take time to discover the correct answer and will need to be inspected by many professionals. Until then who do you think is correct?
